Explorer II 'Chicchi Di Mais'
description
Full set | E-Serial | Chicchi di Mais Dial | Clasp Code P7 | Bracelet Code 78360 | Endlinks 501B
Rolex released the Explorer II in 1971 and it was designed with polar explorers, mountaineers and adventurers in mind. The Explorer II has a number of functional features that make it very suitable for outdoor use. The most iconic component is the fixed bezel with a 24-hour scale that can withstand harsh conditions.
This generation of the Rolex Explorer II was first released in 1989 and discontinued in 2011.
This Rolex Explorer II 'Chicchi di Mais Dial' has been produced in 1990.
This Explorer features a rare 'Chicchi di Mais' dial, which refers to the Luminescense used on the dial, which is made of Tritium, which is discoloured to a yellow Mais colour. The name 'Chicchi di Mais' comes from Italian language and means 'Grains of Corn', referring to the discoloured dots on the dial and hands.
This Explorer II is fitted with a fully brushed 78360 bracelet. This bracelet was in production on the 16570 until around 1996/1997, after which it was replaced by the Oysterlock clasp bracelet seen on later models.
This Rolex Explorer 16570 is in stunning condition and comes with the original Rolex warranty papers and original box. Furthermore, the watch has been serviced by our watchmaker and therefore comes with a one-year warranty.
